Poe's Children

Poe's Children

Poe's Children is a bold new meditation on the poetry of Edgar Allan Poe. At times explosive, at times harrowingly contemplative, this multidisciplinary dive into one of American literature’s most noted voices ignites the imagination and titillates the senses. The show begins at a funeral. Edgar Allen Poe is dead, leaving behind his imaginary children.

At this memorial, each Child has a moment to grieve on their own terms, reflecting on their life’s journey using a poem of their father’s as a catalyst to memory. Utilizing both the text and their own words, the performers interpret and reflect on the work both sonically and physically. Relationships to each other, their father, and themselves are reexamined through song, dance, and more as they forge ever onward toward an elusive catharsis.

Make It A Double

Make It A Double

Permafrost Theatre Collective Presents, The Icebreaker Series; an event dedicated to presenting new works in a relaxed and welcoming environment. The Collective will present works that span the far reaches of storytelling through theatre and music (sometimes both) while commenting on the human experience.

Join us for Make It a Double, a one night event featuring new work from two playwrights. This time around, we have provided our playwrights with a small stipend so they can develop a short selection from a work in progress.

Our featured playwrights are Matt Cox and Iris Rhian.

Matt Cox is a playwright, actor, and sound designer. His play Puffs or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years At A Certain School Of Magic & Magic is currently one of the most produced plays in the country. Upcoming: Witches!? In Salem?! (Early 2024), and a new musical, The Ferret Show. www.MattCoxLand.com

Iris Rhian (All Pronouns) is a playwright and actor based in New York City. As a Dual-Citizen with Canada, Iris frequently works across the border. Iris recently completed a two-year fellowship with Central Square Theater in Boston, MA, was a commissioned artist with Art Connects in Vancouver, and has numerous upcoming projects you can learn more about at https://www.irisrhian.com.

Doors will open at 7:30pm

First play will be read at 7:50pm

Second play will be read at 8:50pm

There will be a brief intermission in between plays.

Tickets start at $20

Wine, as always, is by donation

PTC believes that theater and events should be easily accessible for everyone - if you cannot purchase a ticket at this time and still wish to attend, please email us at permafrosttheatrecollective@gmail.com.
